The nominees for Academy of Country Music Awards announced

The 43rd annual Academy of Country Music Awards was announced in a press conference that was held at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum recently. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley revealed the names of the nominations for the awards to the press and the top nominee for this year’s ACM awards was Kenny Chesney who was nominated in seven different categories. The names of the nominees were let out at the CBS news program, The Early Show. The program also had live performances by multiple nominees like Miranda Lambert and Rodney Atkins. Artists like Taylor Smith, Keith Urban, Paisley, LeAnn Rimes, Sugarland and Big & Rich have been nominated in two or more categories this year.

Kenny Chesney has been nominated in categories that include top male vocalist, top male single, song of the year, video of the year, album of the year apart from being nominated for the entertainer of the year award. Chesney is on the verge of wining this coveted award for the fourth consecutive time. The ACM has given the responsibility of choosing the entertainer of the year award to the fans for the fist time this year and fans can select the winner of this award through votes that begin on May 5.

Father and daughter to host music awards by CMT

The 2008 CMT music awards will be hosted by a father- daughter pair, the country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, the “Hanna Montana” star. The duo will perform at some stage of the show which will be held at the Curb Event Center on 14th of April, at the University of Belmont in Nashville. Billy Ray and Miley Ray are so excited about the opportunity they are getting to host the show and expect that the event will be full of fun with electrifying music performances by various artists like Brad Paisley, Sugar Land, Alan Jackson, Taylor Swift etc.
CMT awards are the lone fan-voted award in the country and are given to the music performances as well as music videos. Billy Cyrus is a multi-faceted personality and he entered the music world by “Some Gave All”, his debut album. He has acted in a documentary by Pax network series and in “Hanna Montana” of the Disney channel. He was seen in the ABC’s program called “Dancing with Stars” and took part in the reality series conducted by CMT. He will soon venture into movie production with the “Hanna Montana” movie. Miley is also into entertainment arena, her album, which is a sound track of Hanna Montana reached the no.1 position on Billboard 200 in 2006. She has a No.1 film to her credit “Hanna Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both worlds”.
