Avett Brothers on the Verge

Brothers Scott and Seth Avett have been attracting more attention since their 2009 release I and Love and You was released. Spin Magazine listed the Rick Rubin produced the Avett Brothers major label debut in their Top 40 list of best albums of the year. The North Carolina-raised brothers are aided on stage by stand-up bassist Bob Crawford and cellist Joe Kwon play a blend of American music styles including bluegrass, country, folk, and ragtime. What sets the band apart is they’re passionate live performances and knack for writing good songs. With people like Rick Rubin in their corner who signed the Avett Brothers to his American Recordings record label expect this band to only grow in popularity. Their live shows have been called “punkgrass” for the amounts of energy they use on stage. The Avett Brothers intend to give you your money’s worth when you see them live. In 2010 the Avett Brothers will tour the Midwest before traveling throughout Europe and Australia. This summer I would bet the band will be apart of a festival or two as they are already scheduled to be playing the Summer Camp Festival in Chillicothe, IL on May 30th.
