NME, the British magazine of music is planning its award ceremony for the first time in U.S. The award ceremony will be held, prior to the beginning of Coachella Valley Music & Art Festival, at El Rey Theatre at Los Angeles on 23rd April. The announcement of this event was made at the NME music award function in London on 28th February. In U.K most of the awards was taken by the “Arctic Monkeys”. The first U.S NME awards will be conducted as a joint endeavor by NME and Goldenvoice, the producers of Coachella Festival and involved in booking concerts in El Rey.
The winners of this award will be selected based on the voting by the public, via NME.com. Public will select the winners for categories like best band, best track, best album and best live band. NME’s editorial team is bestowed with the responsibility of finding the candidate for the “Godlike Genius award”. The tour of NME award will start on April15th from Atlanta and wrap up on 13th May in San Francisco. The tour in North America is under the control of the alternative division of tour of Goldenvoice.
The 2008 CMT music awards will be hosted by a father- daughter pair, the country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, the “Hanna Montana” star. The duo will perform at some stage of the show which will be held at the Curb Event Center on 14th of April, at the University of Belmont in Nashville. Billy Ray and Miley Ray are so excited about the opportunity they are getting to host the show and expect that the event will be full of fun with electrifying music performances by various artists like Brad Paisley, Sugar Land, Alan Jackson, Taylor Swift etc.
CMT awards are the lone fan-voted award in the country and are given to the music performances as well as music videos. Billy Cyrus is a multi-faceted personality and he entered the music world by “Some Gave All”, his debut album. He has acted in a documentary by Pax network series and in “Hanna Montana” of the Disney channel. He was seen in the ABC’s program called “Dancing with Stars” and took part in the reality series conducted by CMT. He will soon venture into movie production with the “Hanna Montana” movie. Miley is also into entertainment arena, her album, which is a sound track of Hanna Montana reached the no.1 position on Billboard 200 in 2006. She has a No.1 film to her credit “Hanna Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both worlds”.
